Social Studies – Humanities: (3 _ years required = 3 _ credits)

R Pacific Northwest Studies (grades 7-12, 1 semester) A survey of Pacific Northwest history from native cultures to present day, within its environmental, political, economic and cultural context.

R World History (grades 9 & 10, 4 semesters) An introduction to the world’s major cultures, their historical accomplishments, and the defining events that have transformed our interdependent world. Coordinated with English 10 – World Literature & Composition course.

R American History & Government (grade 11, 2 semesters) A thematic survey of the history, geography, government, culture, and current issues of the United States.

(R – Honors) American History & Government (grade 11, 2 semesters)

R Contemporary World Cultures & Problems (grade 12, 1 semester) A study of vital economic issues both national and international.

R Economics (grade 12, 1 semester) A study of global connections, democratic processes, and informed decision making, and citizenship.

ESL ESL American History & Government (2 semesters, alternative for ESL students) A thematic survey of the history, geography, government, culture, and current issues of the United States, with a little less depth and less emphasis on critical thinking.

E Individual and Society 1 & 2 (2 semesters) An introduction to psychology and sociology; including a study of physiological, psychological, and psychosocial issues to better understand the individual’s place in society and human interaction.
