Tuition and Fees
2010 – 2011

Seattle Lutheran High School benefits from the generosity of its community each year through a variety of fundraising initiatives designed to support its operating budget, including special events, annual fund, and individual, corporate and congregational financial support. The effect of these external sources of support is to permit establishment of a tuition rate below the full cost of education.

For the 2010-2011 school year, tuition is assessed according at one schedule

General: $9,700 + 20 PIP hours         

Tuition includes the following fees: yearbook, student accident insurance (except additional fee for participation in football), records processing, student ID card. Tuition does not include the following fees: Book fee (all students), Transportation Fee (all families), P.E. uniform, Sports fee (where applicable), Art fee (where enrolled). See explanation of additional fees below.

Non-refundable Registration Fee:
Required to complete admission for Fall 2010: $350.00

Tuition Payment and Discount Schedules 2010-2011 (rates shown include discounts)

_____ Full year pre-payment by July 1, 2010 (earns a $150 tuition reduction) $9,550
_____ Semester pre-payments, one-half annual tuition due Sept 1, 2010 and Feb 1, 2011 (earns $50 reduction per semester) $4,800/semester

Additional Fees:
Annual Book Fee: $100.00 (per student, payable by first day of fall semester)
Transportation Fee: $50.00 (per family, payable by first day of fall semester)
Sports Fee: $100.00 (payable by first day of practice for each sport in which student participates. Fee is set annually by school board in consultation with SLHS Athletic Dept. and Booster Club. Adjustments may be made for 2010 – 2011 school year. Additional fees may apply for Football and Cheerleading)
Art Fee: $25.00 (payable by first day of class, where applicable)

Grant-in-Aid Information: Seattle Lutheran High School provides a limited grant-in-aid program to assist families with very significant financial need. Grants are awarded based on available funds and on recommendation from the Private School Aid Service, which assesses ability to pay via application. Grants are awarded for each school year, and are not automatically renewed. Applications must be submitted for each school year. Applications are available through the school office, and must be returned no later than March 5, 2010, to be assured consideration for the 2010-2011 school year.

Scholarships

SLHS awards scholarships at entrance to freshmen who are valedictorians at their middle schools. Valedictorians receive a $1000 one-time scholarship.

Family Agreement:

The enrolling student agrees that he/she will:

  1. at all times diligently seek excellence in academic achievement ;
  2. respectfully receive and participate in religious education, worship opportunities and sharing of faith, and will actively seek to strengthen his/her spiritual life.
  3. actively seek engagement in school leadership and/or co-curricular activities.
  4. avoid any activity or behavior that conflicts with the school’s mission and vision, whether that behavior/activity takes place within or away from school; within or outside of school hours.

Parents/guardians agree that they will:

  1. actively support and encourage their student(s) to fulfill the obligations outlined above.
  2. make regular use of all school communications resources to remain informed about, and engaged with their student’s academic progress, as well as with school schedules and activities. Families who lack regular internet access will consult with administrative staff to arrange alternative lines of communication.
  3. attend the three scheduled Parents Association general meetings during each school year.
  4. Work proactively with the Parents Association to fulfill their annual obligation to the Parental Involvement Program (PIP).
  5. Remit all tuition and fees on a timely basis.

Fees for Students in Attendance for a Portion of the School Year

The registration fee is non-refundable.

Tuition paid prior to the beginning of the school year will be refunded in full if the student withdraws prior to the beginning of the school year.

Students who are admitted after the opening of the school year are obligated for a minimum of one full semester tuition and fees.

Students who do not complete the school year at Seattle Lutheran High School are responsible for payment of full fees for the remainder of the semester.

Continued Standing in the School

For continued enrollment and annual re-registration, students must show progress in achievement and must be responsible members of the school community.

Re-registration each year requires up to date payments of school fees plus payment of the annual Registration/Activity Fee and return of the signed Tuition Agreement Package form.

Dress Code

Clothes worn at school may be informal, yet must be neat and in good taste. Complete dress code regulations are outlined in the Handbook for Students and Parents and can be found on the website at www.seattlelutheran.org .

School Hours
The regular school day is from 8:00 a.m. until 2:25 p.m. Students are scheduled into a full program of classes and must attend the full day.
