SAINTS TAKE 3RD IN STATE FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW.
SEATTLE LUTHERAN 6, LA CONNER 2

The Saints claimed the 3rd place trophy in commanding form. They are the only team from last year's final four to make it back which shows that the program is at a consistent level of high quality.
The team bounced right back from a tough loss the night before. Ashley Shaw netted 3 goals and Kendra Rancich added two more. The sixth goal came from an own goal. This was sweet revenge for the two losses this season to La Conner. They are a very good team which made this such an impressive win. The whole team played one their best games of the season. The final season record is 13-5-1. Seniors Kelsey Shaw, Sarah Crunican, Melissa Stein, Alina Yovetich, and Kirsten Mattern will be greatly missed. They have had a great high school career here. The Saints plan on not missing a beat next year and will be working hard to make it back to the finals next year.

STATE SEMI-FINALS
SEATTLE LUTHERAN 1, NAPAVINE 2

For the second year in a row the Saints came up a goal short in the semi-final. Napavine played a very physical rough style throughout the match. The Saints scored first in the 6th minute when Sam Depew took the ball from a throw in by Alina Yovetich and beat two Napavine defenders in the box to slot the goal by the keeper. Napavine answered in the 25th and 29th minutes to get the game winner. The Saints dominated possession especially in the second half but could not produce another goal.

STATE QUARTERFINALS
SEATTLE LUTHERAN 5, MT. VERNON CHRISTIAN 0

Ashley Shaw is back to full health again after fighting injuries throughout the season and cashed in with 4 goals on the night. Sam Depew added 2 assists on the night including a corner kick which Ashley Shaw put a finishing header on. Kendra Rancich added the 5th goal on a shot outside the box and assisted Shaw on another. Goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw earned her 9th shutout of the season as the defense played very well throughout the match. The Saints will play on Friday the 20th at Sunset Chev Stadium in
Sumner at 4:00 in the semi-finals.

THE SAINTS HAVE WON THE TRI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 2, ORCAS ISLAND 1

In a very close match the Saints pulled out the victory for their first Tri-District Championship. This is the second consecutive year they have played in the championship game. Ashley Shaw scored in the 35th minute to give the Saints a half-time lead. Orcas Island came out of half-time charging and put in a goal in the 42nd minute to tie it up. With 28 minutes left in the match Ashley Shaw beat the Vikings goalkeeper to the far post to get the game winner. Danya Van Trojen assisted on both goals. The Saints held on the rest of the game for the championship. Goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw played a fantastic game and made some crucial saves. The Saints are now 11-4-1 on the season and play in the first round of the state tournament November 14 at Sammamish Stadium, time TBD.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 6, CHIMACUM 1

In a tune-up match before playoffs the Saints dominated play. Ashley Shaw brought her season goal total to 12 with 3 goals in the game as well as two assists. Sara Crunican added two more and Kendra Rancich scored the other while adding an assist. Sam Depew, Natalie Pimblett, and Melissa Stein all added assists. The Saints now head to the District Championship game Nov. 7 at 1:00 p.m. against Orcas at Edmonds Stadium. The season record is now 10-4-1.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 1, BEAR CREEK 0

The Saints earned the 2009 league championship with their win at Bear Creek. Kendra Rancich scored in the 16th minute and the Saints held on for the win. The win assures the team of a trip to the final 8 at the state tournament. The District Championship game will be on November 7 between Seattle Lutheran and the Northwest League champions. With the win the Saints went 6-0 in League and outscored their opponents 23-1. The overall record is now 9-4-1

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 8, RAINIER CHRISTIAN 0

The Saints are 5-0 in league with the win. Alina Yovetich had a hat trick with 3 goals in the game in the 2nd, 51st, and 58th minutes. Sarah Crunican added two more in the 45th and 49th minutes. Natalie Pimblett hit a 20 yard shot to the far post in the 29th minute and assisted on two other goals, one by Danya Van Trojen in the 25th minute and the other by Alina Yovetich. Sam Depew scored in the 4th minute of the game on a direct free kick from 25 yards out and had an assist as well. Goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw recorded her 7th shut-out. The Saints are now 8-4-1 for the season.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 3, EVERGREEN LUTHERAN 1

The Saints found themselves down 1-0 at the half despite dominating play but changed their fortunes in the second half. Ashley Shaw scored the tying goal in the 48th minute on an assist from Kendra Rancich. In the 60th minute Alina Yovetich put in the game winner assisted by Sam Depew. Sam Depew put in the insurance goal assisted by Danya Van Trojen. The Saints remained undefeated in league and improved their record to 7-4-1 on the season.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 2, MOUNT VERNON CHRISTIAN 2

Alina Yovetich had a goal in each half for the Saints in the non-league tie. The Saints dominated the game but the MVC goalkeeper had a very good game as they were outshot 30-4. The team now gets back to league play with a very important game against Evergreen Lutheran Friday at 5 p.m. at Starfire Sports Complex.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 0, At LA CONNER 2

In a very good game the Saints outshot La Conner on the evening but could not put one in the net. The Braves scored on a break away in the first half and then again on a free kick just outside the box. The second half remained scoreless. The season record is now 6-4.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 6, RAINIER CHRISTIAN 0

The Saints improved to 3-0 in league and 6-3 on the season with their 4th straight shutout. The team has not allowed a goal in 320 minutes of play while scoring 17 goals. Kendra Rancich started off the scoring in the 20th minute assisted by Natalie Pimblett and that seemed to open the door for the rest of the goals. In the 25th minute Alina Yovetich put in a goal from the left side and one minute later Sarah Crunican added another on an assist from Yovetich. In the 29th minute Sam Depew added the Saints 4th on an assist from Crunican. Goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw took to the field in the second half and notched goals in the 60th minute and the 71st minute on an assist from Rancich. Jillian Smith shared the shutout with Shaw, Kelsey's 6th of the season.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 3, BEAR CREEK 0

The Saints remained undefeated in the SeaTac League with the win over Bear Creek. They have not been scored on in the last 3 matches and goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw added her 5th shutout. The match was scoreless after a hard fought 1st half. Ashley Shaw put in the first goal in the 55th minute on a direct free kick after Sam Depew was fouled 25 yards outside of the goal. Sarah Crunican added another two minutes later on an assist from Ashley Shaw. Kendra Rancich put in an insurance goal in the 75th minute on an assist from Alina Yovetich. The Saints are now 2-0 in league and 5-3 overall.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 2, EVERGREEN LUTHERAN 0

Goalkeeper Kelsey Shaw picked up her 4th shutout in the first league game of the season. In the 7th minute Danya Van Trojen beat the goalkeeper to the ball in the far corner of the box and sent a pass in front of the goal that Ashley Shaw finished off for her 6th goal of the season. The Saints controlled much of the possession in the game but the Eagles fought hard to try and tie up the score. In the 74th minute Sarah Crunican won the ball on a Saints corner kick and found Sam Depew for the insurance goal. It was Depew's 6th goal this season. The Saints are now 1-0 in league, and 4-3 on the season.

SEATTLE LUTHERAN 6, LIFE CHRISTIAN 0

In a rematch of last year's district championship game the Saints dominated play. Jillian Smith got the Saints off to a quick start with her first goal of the season in the 2nd minute of play with a great shot from the left side. Ashley Shaw notched her 4th and 5th goals and Kendra Ra
