As of today we are 7-4 9-6 over-all
Here is my thoughts:
I was disappointed in that we didn't play well in any facet of the game, Tacoma deserves some credit for that, but we did not do anything at the level you need to beat a good team on the road. We've got to get to work and fix things
Last night was our best match of the year. We had many kids in the paper which means we are now reaping the work we have been putting in thus far. They are starting to under stand everyday, every play. They are becoming more focused. This is good to see at this time of year.
I was pleased with the three set effort level. "I liked how we answered the challenge of coming back after a tough 2nd game, and emotional [third] game, and not hit that valley. It was good to have Hannah back, and we're going to get more return. It's a real good thing when you learn how to work hard and you get a good return and you know it; it becomes somewhat addictive. It's really good for her," I always talk about ebbs and flows and we did well with that tonight
"This group has shown that we have a chance, I believe in my heart that if we can address some things we have a chance to be great. Great teams also love each other. We're starting to see excitement when others are improving. These girls realize that it's not just about yourself."
There are no little things
It may be hard for an outsider to believe, but just one year ago, I was hired just a couple months before the start of fall camp.
Why this fact is so important for people to understand is, because the Saints, despite having to learn a brand new system and get used to an entire new game, and coaching staff, still managed to win 7 matches in 2010.
"We made progress, "It was a tough year, and I think we understand that we have a lot of work to do. I give the players credit, though, because they had to learn a new systems in a very short period of time."
With a year under their belts, the Saint players and coaching staff have made huge steps in improving the program, with a primary goal of raising the team's level of play on a daily basis.
As it is every year, our goal at Seattle Lutheran is to be better than last year. Ultimately, we would like to make a little progress every day. This past year was an important one for us, and I believe we made good progress; however, we have a ways to go. August will be important for this team."
This year's team will be led by a trio of seniors, Hannah Norton, Amy Jacobs and Makenzie Bartell whom will play a key role in different positions around the court. seven returnees with varying experience and strengths will support the three seniors
Improvement is critical.
