Vision

Seattle Lutheran High School is a radically student-centered learning environment, marinated in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Mission

The purpose of Seattle Lutheran High School is to empower students to make and implement choices that reflect their highest calling.

The Winged Lion

Chosen by the founding class of Seattle Lutheran in 1978, the winged lion remains the schools mascot and symbolizes the strong tradition of character development at Seattle Lutheran High School. This lion symbolism appears in Ezekiel’s vision where four winged creatures represent the four evangelists (Ezekiel 1:10). Matthew is depicted as a human, Mark as a lion, Luke as a bull, and John as an eagle. St. Mark the Evangelist is credited as the author of the earliest canonical Gospel and founder of the first famous Christian school. This symbol comes from Mark’s description of John the Baptist’s voice crying out in the wilderness upon hearing the Word of God (Mark 1:3). His voice is said to have sounded like that of a roaring lion.

Harassment/Bullying Policy

Harassment/Bullying – An atmosphere of mutual respect and physical and emotional safety is essential for the highest quality education. Conduct, comments, or gestures that create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment can be considered harassment and are contrary to the philosophy of Seattle Lutheran High School. Hazing and “initiations” by individuals or groups are prohibited. The school urges all members of its community to report incidents of harassment promptly to a member of the staff, such as a teacher, or administrator. Serious or repeated harassment will result in suspension and possible expulsion.
