WHAT IS THE PARENTS ASSOCIATION AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
The Parents Association is comprised of parents and other supporters of Seattle Lutheran High School.
Its purpose is:
- To support the students and faculty of Seattle Lutheran High School.
- To create an opportunity for parents of students and other supporters to become better acquainted with each other, faculty, staff, and the school program.
- To sponsor or support organized activities, meetings, and other functions which will enrich the quality of the school and community.
- To provide a sounding board, feedback, and channel of communication that can enhance the work of all associated with Seattle Lutheran High School.
PIP
The Parents Association serves as a liaison to match up school needs with Parental Involvement Program (PIP) providers. Parents are required to provide PIP (service hours) to the school. The Auxiliary provides a list of opportunities for parents to earn those hours and matches the parent to the service. Look for the PIP Form on web site and at all Auxiliary events.
Meetings
All-parent meetings are held three times a year, usually in September, January and May. Tuition Agreements require that each student be represented by a parent or designee at all three meetings.
Fundraising
In addition to supporting the various fundraising programs of the school, the Auxiliary sponsors two of their own:
- A holiday wreath sale in the Fall;
The Parents AssociationReps Assist with Class Responsibilities Each class is responsible for the following:
Freshman Class
Provide refreshments for the National Honor Society Induction at the end of the year.
Provide refreshments for the Awards Night at end of the year.
Raise funds for your class senior trip.
Sophomore Class
Tolo – Choose a theme, sell tickets, decorate gym and provide refreshments & chaperones
Raise funds for your class senior trip.
Junior Class
Prom – select site and music, sell tickets, decorate, provide refreshments & chaperones
Agape – Decorate and Provide Refreshments
Graduation – Decorate and provide refreshments
Raise funds for your class senior trip.
Senior Class
Decide on Senior Trip and work on fundraising for it (hold senior auction early in year)
Parents plan Grad Night (a secret all-night event for the seniors the night they graduate)
