As hurricanes continue to ravage the east coast and Caribbean, we at Seattle Lutheran want to do our part to provide aid.
The theme these last two weeks in chapel has been a combination of the parable of the Good Samaritan and the psychological phenomenon known as the “Bystander Effect.” In the Bystander Effect, we find that people tend to not give aid when others are present in the belief that someone else will take responsibility and help, often to the detriment of the victim. We want to embrace the parable and fight against the Bystander Effect in our lives. Hurricane relief is a perfect opportunity to do something in that order. We are asking every student at Seattle Lutheran to either put a care package together or donate the $10 that will enable us to purchase the items needed to create relief packages. We are asking each of you to help make sure that we reach, or hopefully exceed this goal. Relief packages can be dropped off in a barrel outside the office and donations can be made online with the attached link. Thank you, everyone, for all your help as we do our part to help those in need.
Items needed for ONE care package for a family of 4:
